The Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently stood by the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation and dignity, Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani reiterated in an exclusive interview with Al Mayadeen.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Mohajerani emphasized that Iran “will support any step or initiative that could lead to the immediate halt of the genocide in Gaza, the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces, the entry of humanitarian aid, the release of Palestinian prisoners, and the realization of their basic rights.”
Backing Gaza is a moral, political duty
Mohajerani underscored that Iran's support for the Palestinian people is “not merely a political stance,” but rather stems from a deep belief in the right of nations to determine their own destinies and to resist oppression and occupation.
She stressed that the Palestinian resistance is “legitimate and represents an inseparable part of the path to restoring Palestinian rights.”
Mohajerani stated that halting the ongoing crimes in Gaza should not mark the end of the struggle, insisting that any ceasefire must be followed by the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the unimpeded flow of humanitarian assistance into the besieged Strip.
Call for accountability
The Iranian official asserted that justice must be pursued beyond the cessation of hostilities. “There must be real accountability for those who ordered and carried out war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity,” she said, urging the international community to uphold its legal and humanitarian responsibilities.
Mohajerani called for legal action in international courts against those responsible for the atrocities committed in Gaza, emphasizing that the pursuit of justice is essential to prevent future crimes.
Iran reaffirms support for ending genocide
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement on Thursday reaffirming Tehran’s consistent stance in supporting all initiatives aimed at halting the genocide in Gaza, ensuring the withdrawal of occupying forces, facilitating humanitarian aid entry, releasing Palestinian prisoners, and realizing the fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
The ministry also paid tribute to the “great martyrs of the Resistance,” stressing that the international community bears the responsibility to prevent the Israeli occupation from violating its commitments. It urged all nations to remain vigilant toward what it called the “deceit and bad faith” of the Israeli regime.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry further underlined that the end of genocide and aggression in Gaza does not absolve governments and international bodies from their duty to pursue justice.
It called for identifying and prosecuting the commanders and perpetrators responsible for war crimes, genocide, and crimes against humanity in Gaza, in order to end the decades-long impunity of the Israeli regime.
