Iran: Agreement of time and place of next talks nearing end
Iran's lead negotiator says work is currently underway with EU coordinator Enrique Mora to set the time and place of the next talks.
Iran's lead negotiator in the talks to revive the landmark 2015 Iran nuclear deal, Ali Bagheri Kani, announced that work is currently underway to set a time and place for the next round of talks.
Deputy Foreign Minister and lead negotiator Ali Bagheri Kani said in a press statement on Sunday that the agreement is currently in its final stages and that talks are currently progressing with EU coordinator Enrique Mora.
Iran's Foreign Minister said on Wednesday that his country's assessment of the Doha talks was positive.
During a phone conversation with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Amir-Abdollahian said: "We are serious in reaching a good, lasting deal if the US acts realistically."
The Iranian diplomat said Iran's chief negotiator is attempting to come up with creative solutions to reach a lasting agreement, noting that Iran is willing to move forward with the talks until a reasonable deal is reached.
Senior Western officials expressed reservations about restoring the 2015 Iran nuclear deal on Thursday, with the European Union suggesting it "may not get it across the finishing line" and a US official saying the odds had diminished following this week's unsuccessful talks.
The United Nations Security Council gathered to evaluate the situation with Iran one day after indirect US-Iran talks in Doha concluded with little indication of progress toward reviving the accord under which Tehran curtailed its nuclear program in exchange for respite from US, UN, and EU sanctions.
