Iranian and Saudi FMs to meet in Beijing next week
A Saudi-based newspaper reported on an anticipated meeting between the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Iranian counterpart in Beijing.
Saudi-based newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on an anticipated meeting between the Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Beijing on April 6.
Back in early March, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to restore diplomatic relations and reopen missions in respective countries after a series of talks brokered in Beijing.
China sponsored this landmark initiative after 7 years of strained diplomatic relations. During the summit the two countries agreed to reopen within 60 days of the agreement.

Yesterday, first Vice President Mohammad Mokhber revealed that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has accepted Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud's invitation to visit Riyadh.
In the invitation, which was revealed by Muhammad Jamshidi, deputy of the Iranian President's office for political affairs, King Salman bin Abdulaziz expressed his welcome to the agreement to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries and invited him for an official visit to Riyadh to initiate and develop bilateralism between the two countries.

Earlier this week, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from his Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in which the two parties agreed to a date for a meeting. It was reported that the two ministers discussed several issues that are of interest to both countries, in addition to discussing the upcoming steps between them in light of the latest tripartite agreement, struck between them.

The phone call between the two FMs was the second after the summit in Beijing. In late March, the two had discussed the developments of the reestablishment of bilateral relations between the two countries. They had reportedly talked mainly about the process to restore all diplomatic ties and considered it a top priority between the two Islamic nations.
