Iranian Foreign Ministry blasts US, UK, Canada over sanctions
Iran FM noted Iran's significant role as a vital member of the global community which actively contributes to peace, security, and the fight against global terrorism.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry on Saturday condemned the recent actions taken by the US, the UK, and Canada for the imposition of sanctions on various individuals and entities within Iran's armed forces.
"The Foreign Ministry spokesman [Nasser Kanaani] strongly condemned the actions of three countries — the US, UK, and Canada — in imposing sanctions against a number of individuals and entities of the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran," the ministry declared.
The ministry further expressed strong disapproval of the European Parliament resolution and allegations against Iran, and that Iran's military capabilities effectively addressed the nation's security requirements, safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
It further noted Iran's significant role as a vital member of the global community which actively contributes to peace, security, and the fight against global terrorism.
Despite the imposition of sanctions, Iran has managed to attain self-sufficiency in enhancing and advancing its defense and military capabilities, the Ministry noted.

Canada on Thursday implemented fresh sanctions targeting Iran, namely two entities and two individuals, among them Iranian Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani.
The UK also imposed new sanctions on Iran, targeting its drone sector and banning the export of specific manufacturing components.
The US on its part sanctioned a total of eight Iranian nationals, 15 entities spanning Iran, the UAE, Panama, and India, in addition to five vessels and one aircraft.
The sanctions were implemented in response to Iran's attack on "Israel" after the latter bombed the Iranian consulate on Aprils 1rst.
On April 20, "Israel" carried out retarliatory strikes across multiple provinces. The regime attempted to strike a nuclear facility in Isfahan but Iran's air defenses intercepted the aggression, averting nuclear disaster.

Earlier today, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that Iran was immune to sanctions, considering that Western sanctions have never yielded any results.
"This exhibit shows that Iran is unsanctionable, and sanctions against the country have never yielded any results thanks to the strong will of the people and will not be successful after this either," Raisi said at the opening of the 6th export potential exhibition of the Islamic Republic of Iran (Expo 2024) in Tehran on Friday.
"Also, the evil plots to isolate the Islamic Republic of Iran have never come to fruition and will never come to fruition," he added.
