Iranian general staff arrives in Moscow for security conference
Iran's general staff delegation arrives in Moscow for a security conference tackling global and regional challenges.
The Iranian embassy in Russia announced that a top delegation of the Iranian armed forces' general staff has arrived in Moscow to attend an international security conference.
"The delegation of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by the Coordination Deputy for the Armed Forces General Staff ... Brigadier General [Ali] Abdollahi has gone on a visit to Moscow to participate in the Moscow International Security Conference," the Iranian diplomatic mission said in a statement, adding that "yesterday, upon arrival in Moscow, the delegation was met by the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation, Mr. [Kazem] Jalali."
The 10th Moscow Conference on International Security will take place at Patriot Park on August 16th, just outside of Moscow. The topic of the conference encompasses the most critical global and regional security challenges.
On that note, the 9th Moscow International Security Conference was held in June 2021 and discussed issues of strategic stability, and global and regional security in Europe and Africa, as well as in Asia and the Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced earlier that representatives from 109 countries were invited to attend the Moscow Conference on International Security, which takes place today.
Khayyam satellite to boost Iran cooperation with Russia
In addition, the director of the IPM Institute for Research in Fundamental Sciences, Mohammad-Javad Larijani, told IRNA on Sunday that Russia stands among the most advanced nations in the aerospace industry, as well as in physics, mathematics, nanotechnology, astronomy, and quantum computing.
The launch of the Khayyam satellite is a highly significant breakthrough in the relations between the two countries. The enhancement of the partnership benefits scientists from both sides, the director noted.
Iran’s collaboration with Russia in the development of satellite carriers, manufacturing satellites, tracking stations, on-earth tracking, and data analysis would be exceptionally beneficial, he added, noting that the Islamic Republic enjoys good capabilities and can achieve more in this respect, but critics remain ignorant of these options.
These events come after Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov considered "Iran is an important partner of Russia, relations are of a friendly nature, have a long history, and are developing very effectively in the widest range of areas. Both sides have plans to bring bilateral cooperation to a new level — the level of strategic partnership. A new interstate agreement is being prepared.”
In other words, Ushakov said that Russia and Iran have plans to elevate their relations to the level of a strategic partnership and that a new deal is being drafted.
