Any Israeli threat to Iran's nuclear and military facilities is not possible without a green light from Washington, commander of Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Major General Gholam Ali Rashid said Monday, addressing a crowd of senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders in the "Great Prophet 17" maneuvers.
"If threats against Iran materialize, the Iranian armed forces will respond directly and destructively to all centers, bases, and infrastructure from which the attack will launch and pass, according to scenarios that have been rehearsed," the commander asserted.
The Coordinating Deputy of the Iranian Army, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, revealed Sunday that "the readiness of the armed forces enhances Iran's deterrent capabilities, and will not allow any enemy to dare attack the country."
Israeli media had talked about targeting Iranian nuclear facilities; Yediot Aharonot said, "Israel is preparing to launch an attack on Iran in case of a nuclear breakthrough," noting that "Tel Aviv" is concerned about Iran's rising nuclear capabilities, and for this reason, according to them, there must appropriate "modern means" to target and disrupt the nuclear program.
Meanwhile, the Jerusalem Post reported that "Israel" does not have any effective military plan against Iran's nuclear facilities.
Previously, the New York Times indicated that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) facility targeted near Karaj, west Tehran, was among the Israeli targets presented to former US President Donald Trump.
In mid-November 2020, also according to the NYT, Trump discussed launching an attack on Iran to impede his successor's return to the nuclear agreement with Tehran.
