Iranian MoD spox to Al Mayadeen: 90% of our military needs homegrown
A spokesperson for the Iranian Defense Ministry tells Al Mayadeen that Tehran has become among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of defense industry technology.
A spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Reza Talaei-Nik, told Al Mayadeen that "Iran has not and will never be the initiator of any war." He stressed, however, that his country "will spare no effort in decisively defending its independence and security."
He also confirmed that Tehran has become among the top 10 countries in the world in terms of defense industry technology. The spokesperson also stressed that Iran was able, in 45 years, to "transform from an importer of weapons to a country that manufactures about 90% of its military needs."
This comes as Iran introduced on Tuesday the Mohajer-10 drone as part of the Defense Industry Day celebration. The domestically-produced drone was showcased in Tehran during an event attended by President Ebrahim Raisi. After its unveiling, the Israeli media expressed fear within the Israeli entity as the drone could cover "all of Israel", having a range of 2,000 kilometers.
