Iranian MPs: IAEA lost technical validity
Iranian lawmakers say that repeated IAEA reports affirmed that Tehran has provided the agency with the most possible access and inspection opportunities in good faith.
On Sunday, 260 Iranian parliamentarians inked a statement condemning the IAEA Board of Governors' recent resolution against Iran, arguing that the UN nuclear agency has lost technical validity.
The statement denounced the Agency’s move as excessive and politicized.
Iranian lawmakers have also stressed that repeated IAEA reports affirmed that Tehran has provided the Agency with the most possible access and inspection opportunities in good faith, while these accesses have not been used to help remove Western claims against Iran's peaceful nuclear program.
The IAEA Secretariat has raised new questions about Iran's nuclear program, casting doubt on the Agency's continued cooperation, according to the statement.
“If cooperating with IAEA inspections raises excuses for ambiguity, why should these opportunities be repeated?” the statement added.
It is worth noting that the lawmakers backed the government and the country's nuclear organization in their decision to reduce cooperation with the UN nuclear agency.
On his account, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said, on Sunday, that Iran will use leverage for the West's excessive demands.
Referring to the series of steps taken to revive the nuclear deal known as the JCPOA, he stated that the country's authority, the demands and expectations of the people, and how to pursue them must all be preserved.
