Iranian Foreign Minister speaks over the phone with UN Secretary-General on numerous international issues, including the Iranian nuclear file and Yemen.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian spoke over the phone with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on numerous international issues, including the Iranian nuclear file.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that Guterres stressed that the latest resolution of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on Iran was a mere recommendation.
The Secretary-General stressed the importance of continuing the Vienna Talks, emphasizing that diplomacy is the best way to resolve differences between Iran and the other parties to the nuclear agreement.
For his part, Amir-Abdollahian slammed the move by the US and the three European countries to present a resolution condemning Tehran to the IAEA Board of Governors as a "hasty, politically-motivated behavior."
During the phone call, the two touched on the Yemeni crisis as well, where the Iranian Minister stressed his support for the continuation of the ceasefire in Yemen and the need to completely lift the humanitarian siege off of the country, considering that "the current truce is an opportunity to start more Yemeni-Yemeni talks."
