Iran's FM hosts Turkish counterpart, holds comprehensive talks
Iranian and Turkish diplomats have held talks in detail on several regional and international issues.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian welcomed his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, today at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Tehran. This visit marks a significant step in strengthening diplomatic ties between the two nations.
During a private meeting, both ministers delved into comprehensive discussions on various matters which extended for approximately one and a half hours. Subsequently, they convened extensive talks involving their respective delegations.
Fidan's visit to Tehran holds particular significance as it marks his inaugural visit to Iran since assuming the role of Turkish Foreign Minister. According to reports from the Iranian Fars news agency, Fidan's agenda includes discussions with Iranian officials on topics of regional and international importance.
In a statement issued by the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was emphasized that Minister Amir-Abdollahian had previously extended an invitation to Fidan to visit Iran. The statement underscores the importance of this visit in exploring avenues for deeper collaboration across various sectors while also addressing regional and international developments.

Notably, this visit comes on the heels of Fidan's recent trip to Moscow, where he engaged in discussions with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, and his visit to Iraq.
Despite divergences in their stances on several issues, including the war in Syria and relations with their neighbor Azerbaijan, Iran and Turkey maintain robust economic and political ties.
It is worth noting that Erdogan has repeatedly expressed Ankara's desire for further regional cooperation making reference to the quadrilateral cooperation of Turkey, Iran, Syria, and Russia.
