On Tuesday, Iraq submitted a complaint to the UN Security Council and the United Nations, condemning the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps for attacking an Israeli Mossad headquarters in the city of Erbil, in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.

The Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs submitted a complaint in two identical letters to both the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the UN Security Council. The submission was made through the Iraqi permanent representative in New York.

In the two letters, Baghdad considered the Iranian targeting “aggression and a flagrant violation of Iraq’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security of the Iraqi people.”

For its part, Iran has reiterated its firm commitment to supporting the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of both Iraq and Syria. This affirmation was conveyed through a letter from the Iranian government to the UN Security Council, addressing its military operations against terrorist strongholds in Syria and Iraq.

The Iranian government stated that the military operation was deemed necessary and fully aligned with Iran's international commitments regarding human rights. It was carried out in response to a recent terrorist attack in Kerman, which resulted in the martyrdom of over 100 citizens and was claimed by ISIS.

Earlier on Monday, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps in Iran announced it targeted "one of the main headquarters of the Israeli Mossad in the Kurdistan region of Iraq." This action was stated to be a response to the Israeli occupation entity's assassination of leaders within the Revolutionary Guard and the Axis of Resistance.
