The Hezbollah Brigades in Iraq issued a firm warning on Sunday, declaring that any US intervention in the war on Iran would trigger direct retaliation against American interests across the region.
In an official statement, the brigades emphasized that Iran does not require military assistance to confront the Israeli occupation, stating that the Islamic Republic "has enough men and capabilities to curb its aggression." However, the group affirmed that it is closely monitoring US military movements and would not hesitate to target American bases if the United States intervenes.
The statement also called on the Iraqi government, the Coordination Framework, and all "loyal opponents" to take decisive action to prevent the war from escalating further. Specifically, the brigades urged authorities to shut down the US embassy and expel US forces from Iraqi territory, labeling them as "the clearest and most dangerous threat to Iraq's security and the stability of the region."
This warning comes as the Israeli occupation continues its aggression against Iran, which began on June 13, 2025. In response, Iran launched Operation True Promise 3, targeting Israeli military and strategic facilities in what Tehran described as a calculated act of self-defense.
The Hezbollah Brigades' message reflects broader concerns among resistance factions that US involvement could further destabilize the region and escalate the already volatile confrontation between Iran and the Israeli occupation.
US vows to defend 'Israel'
After the massive attack on Iran, US officials reiterated that Washington was not involved in the attack. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that while the US had been informed in advance, the attacks were carried out independently by “Israel".
"We are not involved in strikes against Iran, and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region," Rubio said in an official statement. "Israel advised us that they believe this action was necessary for its self-defense, Rubio added, although it was "Israel" that always initiated attacks against the Islamic Republic.
Rubio delivered a clear warning to Iran not to target American interests in response to the Israeli occupation's attack. His remarks came shortly after the United States ordered non-essential personnel to evacuate from several locations across the Middle East due to heightened security concerns.
"Let me be clear: Iran should not target US interests or personnel," Rubio said, without addressing whether Washington would defend "Israel" in the event of Iranian retaliation, departing from traditional US messaging that often emphasizes unwavering support for the Israeli regime. This support came directly from the US president himself.
“We will defend ourselves and defend Israel,” Trump said, as US Central Command (CENTCOM) is reportedly on high alert,
On a related note, earlier this week, Iran’s Defense Minister, Brigadier General Aziz Nasirzadeh, announced on June 11 that all US military bases across the region are within striking distance of Iranian missiles. The warning came amid growing regional tensions, before the Israeli attack on Iran.
“In case of any conflict, the US must leave the region because all its bases will be within our range,” Nasirzadeh told reporters at a cabinet meeting, adding that Iran would not differentiate between the bases and the host countries harboring them, emphasizing that any aggression would be met with decisive retaliation.
