Iraqi Kurdistan President: Relationship with Baghdad is complementary
The President of Iraqi Kurdistan says the policy of the Region supports the Iraqi government.
The President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, stressed on Thursday that the region's policy supports the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammad Shia Al-Sudani, adding that Baghdad is the strategic depth of Kurdistan.
"Our policy here in the Kurdistan Region is to support the cabinet of PM Sudani," Barzani indicated during the second Erbil dialogue conference.
He affirmed that Shia Al-Sudani "has the desire to solve problems," calling on political parties to support the Iraqi Prime Minister's implementation of his ministerial program.
"Baghdad is our strategic depth and solving problems with it will pave the way for political, security, and economic stability throughout Iraq," the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region added.
Barzani pointed out that "there is a positive atmosphere that prevails in the relationship" between Baghdad and Erbil, stressing that "we will not miss any opportunity to end it, and our bilateral relationship is complementary."
"There is high coordination between the two parties, which resulted in striking ISIS terrorist gangs and addressing their threat," Barzani highlighted, adding that "there are efforts to approve the general budget in the Council of Ministers soon."
Elsewhere, the President of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region noted that "Iraq has energy sources that could solve the problems of lack of supplies in some countries of the world."
It is noteworthy that in late November 2022, Barzani indicated that Iraqi Kurdistan agrees with the government in Baghdad on the protection of the borders and prohibiting the targeting of any neighboring countries.
