'Israel' plans to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque compound between Muslims, Jews
Israeli occupation forces routinely allow settlers to storm Al-Aqsa compound under their protection, provoking Palestinians, with plans now being considered that could escalate the situation in Palestine.
Palestinian sources on Thursday reported that the Israeli occupation is tailoring plans to divide the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in the occupied city of al-Quds so that one part of the compound would be granted exclusively to Israeli settlers.
According to the Ramallah-based Al-Ayyam daily, far-right Knesset member Amit Halevi is credited for conceiving the ploy aiming to give extremist zionist settlers an exclusive right to "pray" at the compound.
It also revealed that Halevi issued a call for allocating the southern part of the compound to Muslims, whilst the central and northern parts which include the holy Dome of the Rock would be granted to Zionists.
Halevi has stated that his plan involves stripping off the custodianship of the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Jordanian government.

On another note, the Al-Hayat al-Jadida daily cited the Palestinian Ministry of Al-Quds Affairs warning that such a scheme would result in tremendous provocations and trigger major social unrest.
Sheikh Muhammad Ahmad Hussein, the incumbent Grand Mufti of Al-Quds, likewise said that such a plan will trigger a major conflict that will have global ramifications. He also blamed the occupation for intentionally seeking to further escalate tensions in the occupied West Bank.
He also highlighted that the occupation's systematic fabrication of historical lies is known to all, and that international rights organizations have all acknowledged that the site belongs solely to Muslims.
Hussein called on the international community to assume their obligations and intervene immediately to prevent the occupation from carrying out its plans against the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Al-Aqsa Mosque compound sits just above the Western Wall plaza and houses both the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
For Muslims, Al-Aqsa Mosque is the first of the two qiblas, the third of the two holy mosques, and the place to where Prophet Mohammad made his Night Journey, followed by his ascension to the heavens.
Israeli occupation forces routinely allow settlers to storm the Al-Aqsa compound under their protection, provoking Palestinians.
The repeated aggressions of the Israeli occupation, seen through their acts of demolition or forcible displacement in an attempt to take hold of the old neighborhoods of Al-Quds, showcase the extent of the Israeli insistence on Judaizing the Palestinian capital by obliterating its national and religious identities.
