“Israel” supports Ukraine, refrains from mentioning Russia
According to Israeli media, “Israel” is cautious in its statements about the Ukraine crisis so as not to provoke a dispute with Russia.
Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that “Israel shares the concern of the international community regarding the steps taken in eastern Ukraine and the serious escalation in the situation,” without making any mention of Russia.
In a statement, the Ministry added that “Israel hopes for a diplomatic solution which will lead to calm, and is willing to help if asked.”
“Israel” also stated that it "supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty" and “expressed concern for Israeli citizens and the Jewish community in the affected areas.”
“Israel is ready and willing to immediately transfer humanitarian assistance to Ukraine according to its needs and is in contact with the Ukrainian authorities regarding the matter,” the statement added, without mentioning Russia.
“Israel is continuing to engage in dialogue with its partners on ways to get the diplomatic efforts back on track.”
It is worth mentioning that the Israeli media has lately highlighted that “Israel” is being cautious in its statements about the Ukraine crisis so as not to provoke a dispute with Russia.
On Monday, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid declared that "Israel" would side with the United States if war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine.
Israeli circles are monitoring the developments between Russia and Ukraine, amid an Israeli assumption that any military battle may have strategic consequences on “Israel”.
