Israeli bombardment kills man in Khiam, South Lebanon
A man was martyred in the Israeli bombardment of the Lebanese town of Khiam after the occupation withdrew from it.
An Israeli drone targeted the southern Lebanese town of Khiam on Thursday, resulting in the death of one person, an Al Mayadeen correspondent reported.
Lebanon's caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, condemned the Israeli violation, stating, "Countries sponsoring the ceasefire in Lebanon must take a clear stance on Israel's repeated violations." He described the attack on Khiam as a "premeditated Israeli aggression that defies all commitments made by the parties overseeing the agreement."
The Lebanese Army announced on Wednesday evening that its units had deployed at five locations around the border town of Khiam in the Marjayoun District. The deployment, coordinated with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), marks the first phase of the army's operations in the area.
This move coincided with the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from the region, following diplomatic efforts led by the Five-Nation Monitoring Committee, as confirmed by the Lebanese Army in an official statement.
Ongoing violations
Lebanon's Health Ministry reported that Israeli strikes killed five people in southern Lebanon on Wednesday, threatening the fragile ceasefire between "Israel" and Hezbollah that came into effect on November 27.
The strikes targeted the towns of Ainata, Bint Jbeil, and Beit Lif, with one person killed and another wounded in Ainata, three killed in Bint Jbeil, and one killed in Beit Lif.
