US, France, UNIFIL coordinate support for ceasefire in South Lebanon
The US and French embassies in Lebanon, along with UNIFIL, issue a joint statement on coordinating support for the cessation of hostilities and the implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
The US and French embassies in Lebanon, along with UNIFIL, issued a joint statement regarding "coordination to support Security Council Resolution 1701."
"The United States, France, UNIFIL, LAF, and IDF met on December 9 in Naqoura to coordinate their support for the cessation of hostilities that went into effect on November 27," the statement read.
It also noted that this mechanism will meet regularly and closely coordinate its work to make progress in implementing the ceasefire agreement and Resolution 1701.
The Israeli Channel 12 reported that "the first meeting, held today in southern Lebanon, included representatives from the Israeli army, the Lebanese Army, UNIFIL, the United States, and France, to discuss implementing the ceasefire."
UN Resolution 1701, adopted by the United Nations Security Council on August 11, 2006, aimed to resolve the war between "Israel" and Hezbollah. The resolution called for an immediate ceasefire between the two sides and outlined a framework for lasting peace in the region.
This comes as Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon continue.

Two Israeli missiles targeted a vehicle near a Lebanese Army checkpoint in Bint Jbeil, South Lebanon, killing one person and injuring four soldiers.
A statement issued by the Lebanese Army confirmed that one civilian was killed, while four soldiers sustained injuries as a result of the Israeli aggression.
In this context, Lebanese Minister of Labor Mustafa Bayram told Al Mayadeen that "Israel" is not adhering to the ceasefire, and that the matter is currently in the hands of the Lebanese government and the Quintet Committee.
On Saturday, Israeli airstrikes killed six people in southern Lebanon, marking a significant escalation after a ceasefire between Hezbollah and "Israel" took effect on November 27.
