Israeli media: Russia-Iran cooperation worries "Israel"
Israeli Channel 12's Arab affairs commentator says the chances of signing a nuclear agreement have greatly increased.
Israeli media said Saturday that the Russian-Iranian cooperation is worrying to "Israel" and there is no way to stop it after having expressed concern in several arenas.
Ehud Yaari, Israeli Channel 12's Arab affairs commentator said he does not think there is a way to stop Russian-Iranian cooperation.
He indicated that Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi spoke four times with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, adding that this does not usually happen between countries in such a short period of time without a time of crisis.
Earlier, Israeli media pointed out that Putin's arrival in Tehran and his meeting with Iranian Leader Sayyed Ali Khamenei concerned the Israeli occupation authorities.
The Israeli media also touched on Iran partially joining the Russian Mir payment system that allowed the Russians to transport goods to India through Iranian territory and circumvent sanctions.
Israeli media: Chances of signing nuclear agreement increased
Regarding the Iranian nuclear agreement, Yaari believed that the chances of signing a nuclear agreement have greatly increased after the Americans and Europeans made two important concessions.
He explained that the first concession was about the continuation of the International Atomic Energy Agency's investigation into Iran's military activity, adding that the second concession is to allow the Europeans and others to deal with Iran's Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) despite the continued US sanctions on it.
Russian-Israeli tensions rising in recent months
In recent months, relations between Russia and the Israeli occupation have been tense.
On July 15, Israeli media reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed a new Russian law to "paralyze Jewish and Israeli organizations," commenting that "the fear is that the new law will create an impossible situation for Jewish and Israeli organizations to operate in Russia."
Israeli media then reported on there being "great tension between Russia and Israel," against the background of reports from Moscow that the Jewish Agency had been suspended, noting that this matter was linked to "Prime Minister Yair Lapid's statement regarding the war in Ukraine," describing the suspension of the agency as "political punishment".
Russian Foreign Ministry summons Israeli occupation Ambassador
Last April, the Israeli newspaper website Haaretz reported that Russia summoned the Israeli occupation Ambassador to Moscow, Alexander Ben Zvi, to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
This came after the Russian Foreign Ministry slammed Israeli occupation PM and Foreign Minister Yair Lapid for his statements following the suspension of Russia from the UN Human Rights Council over the war in Ukraine.
Lapid had accused the Russian forces of committing "war crimes against a defenseless civilian population. I strongly condemn these war crimes."
