Israeli occupation minister Gantz meets King Abdullah II in Amman
The Jordanian King Abdullah II and Israeli occupation Security Minister Benny Gantz meet for the second time since last February.
Jordan's King Abdullah II and Israeli occupation Security Minister Benny Gantz discussed Wednesday regional "security and stability", in the latest visit by a senior Israeli official to the Jordanian capital Amman in recent months.
They were joined by Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi.
The Times of "Israel" mentioned that this is the second meeting between the Jordanian King and the occupation's minister, as the first meeting took place secretly last February.
"King Abdullah reiterated the need to maintain calm in the Palestinian Territories," a statement by Jordan's royal court said, without clarifying whether or not it will push toward it.
For his part, Gantz claimed "his commitment to further developing security, economic and civilian exchanges", without mentioning the occupied Palestinian territories.
In September, Israeli occupation President Isaac Herzog met with King Abdullah, in what the former called an "excellent" exchange.
"Declaration of intent"
On November 22, Jordan signed a "declaration of intent" with "Israel" to enter into a negotiating process to discuss the feasibility of a joint energy and water project.
Announced at the Expo 2020 in Dubai in the presence of US climate envoy John Kerry, the signed "declaration" between Amman, "Tel Aviv", and Abu Dhabi is the largest cooperation agreement ever between the three.
In response, Jordanian MPs walked out from Parliament in rejection of the water-for-electricity agreement their government signed with "Israel", leading to the absence of a quorum.
It is noteworthy that hundreds of Jordanians demonstrated in the Jordanian capital against Amman's water-for-energy agreement with "Israel" and the UAE.
The protestors underscored that they would continue their movement until the agreement is stopped, declaring their absolute rejection of any form of normalization with the Israeli occupation, Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Amman reported.
The National Campaign to Overturn the Gas Deal with "Israel" confirmed that decision-makers in Jordan shifted from political normalization to the imposed normalization on Jordanians, after signing the electricity and water exchange declaration of intent with the Israeli occupation.
Jordan became the second Arab country to normalize ties with the Israeli occupation in 1994.
