Israeli occupation targets Palestinian detainees freed in swap deal
The Israeli occupation is targeting Palestinian detainees previously released, signaling a renewed crackdown on Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank and al-Quds.
The "systematic detention campaigns" of the Israeli occupation against Palestinian people in the occupied West Bank and occupied al-Quds have been increasingly targeting the Palestinian detainees freed in the latest prisoner swap deal that took place in November 2023, according to the Palestinian Prisoners Society and the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs.
The organizations have announced that the Israeli occupation has once again detained 13 freed detainees.
Among those detained again are three Palestinian minors from Nablus, Jenin, and Areeha in the occupied West Bank.
Simultaneously, four young Palestinians from Areeha and Ramallah were detained, again, and put back in administrative detention for another four to six months.
The two human rights organizations also noted that among those once again detained by the Israeli occupation were four Palestinian women from Ramallah and Nablus.
In 165 days, more than 7,670 Palestinians detained by IOF
Over 7,670 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank, the Commission of Detainees' Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society revealed today.
This figure includes 246 women and 500 children. Meanwhile, 61 journalists were detained, 40 of whom remain imprisoned and 23 of whom are in administrative detention without charge or trial.
4,343 administrative detention orders were issued after October 7, which is a record high.
It is worth noting that the ongoing detention campaigns since October 7 are accompanied by escalating violations, including brutal beatings and assaults, threats against detainees and their families, and the destruction and vandalism of citizens' homes and properties, including vehicles, money, and jewelry, in addition to extensive destruction of infrastructure, especially in Tulkarm and Jenin.
In addition to these detentions, the IOF carried out field executions, including against members of the detainees' families.
