Israeli prison authorities assault Palestinian prisoners in "Ofer","Megiddo"
Israeli prison authorities stormed the prisons and assaulted Palestinian prisoners in a new, more policed wave of aggression post-Freedom Tunnel era.
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Prisoners Affairs reported that Israeli forces stormed the "Ofer" and "Megiddo" occupation prisons. The forces beat the Palestinian prisoners, threatening them with new sentences, punishments and penalties.
The commission added that the occupation prisons are trying to pressure prisoners through intimidation and extortion tactics to discourage them from resisting the occupation.
In turn, the Emergency Committee in the occupation prisons said that the battle is ongoing until the prison administration repeals its arbitrary measures, adding that the prisoners may start an open hunger strike "at any moment, and we are ready for that."
The Palestinian Captive Movement called on the Palestinian people, collectively, to participate and actively support the 'Day of Rage' which will take place on Monday.
Furthermore, the Palestinian Captive Movement announced the launching of Palestinian prisoners' struggle in rejection of the escalating aggression against the prisoners and the prison authorities' failure to implement the understandings made between the movement and the administration. The prisoners demand the undoing of the penalties imposed on the prisoners, and to de-escalate the aggression.
The movement called on the Palestinian people to support the prisoners in their struggle until their demands are met.
Occupation sends suppression units in fear of Palestinian prisoners revolt
The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs announced that the Israeli occupation Prisons Authority sent massive reinforcements from the suppression units, in fear of a revolt by prisoners after Friday prayers.
The Prisoners’ Information Office confirmed that Palestinian prisoners in all occupation prisons refused to enter their rooms after the Friday prayers in protest of the Prisons Authority's punitive measures.
The Information Office noted that the Prisons Authority threatens to repress prisoners in the wake of their refusal to enter their rooms, as a state of tension prevails in the occupation prisons.
In the same context, the Palestinian Prisoners Club reported severe tension prevailing in the "Megiddo" prison, with the presence of large forces from the prison suppression units.
Israeli media had pointed out that the Prisons' Authority has decided to adopt a new policy regarding the imprisonment of security prisoners, following Operation Freedom Tunnel from the Gilboa prison several months ago.
According to the media, the occupation forces have decided to prevent prisoners -- suspected to carry out escape operations -- from staying in the same cell, in addition to transferring such prisoners from one cell to another every four months instead of once in half a year.
