Israeli soldiers admit being far from aim of 'abolishing' Resistance
Concerns are mounting among Israeli occupation forces regarding the difficulty of achieving what they term a "lasting strategic victory" in Gaza.
Concerns are rising among Israeli occupation forces about the difficulty of achieving a "lasting strategic victory," a new report by The Wall Street Journal highlighted.
The goal of "eliminating Hamas" as a significant military and political entity remains elusive after nearly five months of intense fighting, as per Israeli soldiers who spoke to The Wall Street Journal.
Israeli soldiers, from senior commanders to reservists on the ground, also expressed a sense of frustration. Many of them questioned the absence of a clear plan and pondered the purpose of their efforts, with doubts emerging about the feasibility of "completely destroying Hamas," as per the report.
Meanwhile, Gaza's civilian population continues to suffer the most, with thousands killed by airstrikes and ground fire, and many more facing urgent needs for food, medicine, and safety. Palestinian health authorities reported that more than 30,000 Palestinians were killed, predominantly women and children, due to the ongoing Israeli genocide and total blockade.
Military analysts also noted the unique scale of Hamas' tunnel network. The Palestinian Resistance has employed the tunnels for communication, using a fixed-line phone system, walkie-talkies, burner SIMs, and satellite phones.
Despite months of confrontations, the Israeli army has not found a systematic solution for locating and destroying Hamas' extensive tunnel network, contributing to the challenges in achieving the stated military objectives, the report concluded.
