An Israeli tank has fired on a Red Crescent building in the al-Mawasi area of the southern Gaza Strip, Al-Aqsa TV reported on Monday. The broadcaster did not provide further details regarding the incident.
The reported attack comes amid ongoing Israeli strikes on the besieged Palestinian territory.
On March 19, the Gaza Health Ministry said an Israeli strike had hit a UN building, killing one person and injuring at least five others. The UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) later confirmed the death of one of its staff members, stating that the fatality resulted from a munition that struck its facility.
The Israeli military resumed airstrikes on Gaza last Tuesday, killing hundreds of civilians. According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office, the attacks were in response to Hamas' refusal to accept a US proposal to extend the ceasefire, while the Palestinian Resistance said the Israelis were stalling and refused to move to the second phase of the deal that entailed a permanent ceasefire.
Escalating strikes, aggression
The Israeli aggression on Gaza is intensifying, killing more than 40 people as "Israel" targets several areas across the blockaded strip.
Forty-six Palestinians were killed in Gaza since Sunday dawn, according to an Al Mayadeen correspondent, who also reported that two were martyred and several were injured when an Israeli airstrike targeted a tent for displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis.
In addition, the Israeli occupation forces conducted an airstrike near Kaff al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis amid violent airstrikes targeting Central Khan Yunis. In contrast, an airstrike targeted the northern sector of al-Bureij camp in Central Gaza.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza also reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted the ER department of the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, engulfing it in flames.
Gaza's Civil Defense directorate confirmed the loss of contact with its team in the Barracks area west of Rafah, in the southern part of the Strip, while attempting to intervene to rescue the Red Crescent ambulance crew, which an Israeli attack had targeted.
