The Palestinian Resistance movement, Hamas has announced the martyrdom of a member of the movement's political bureau in the Gaza Strip Ismail Barhoum.
The movement stated that Barhoum was martyred in a "cowardly Zionist assassination," targeting him by bombing the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis as he was receiving treatment.
In a brief statement about him, the movement noted that he was a "symbol of Islamic advocacy and a key pillar of the movement in the Gaza Strip, embodying steadfastness and selflessness."
The statement added that Barhoum dedicated his life to serving his people, religion, and cause, remaining loyal to Palestine and its holy sites while actively engaging in community and humanitarian work."
Hamas confirmed this was a new crime by the Israeli occupation in its record of violations of holy sites and health facilities, as it continues to disregard all international rules by systematically killing the people of Gaza and their leaders.
Hamas condemned in the strongest terms the bombing of the hospital, which it described as "a dangerous escalation of Zionist war crimes against our people and a flagrant violation of all international laws," affirming it bids farewell to Barhoum the "great leader."
The Israeli aggression on Gaza is intensifying, killing more than 40 people as "Israel" targets several areas across the blockaded strip.
Forty-six Palestinians were killed in Gaza since Sunday dawn, according to an Al Mayadeen correspondent, who also reported that two were martyred and several were injured when an Israeli airstrike targeted a tent for displaced Palestinians in Khan Younis.
In addition, the Israeli occupation forces conducted an airstrike near Kaff al-Qarara, northeast of Khan Younis amid violent airstrikes targeting Central Khan Yunis. In contrast, an airstrike targeted the northern sector of al-Bureij camp in Central Gaza.
Al Mayadeen's correspondent in Gaza also reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted the ER department of the Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, engulfing it in flames.
Gaza's Civil Defense directorate confirmed the loss of contact with its team in the Barracks area west of Rafah, in the southern part of the Strip, while attempting to intervene to rescue the Red Crescent ambulance crew, which an Israeli attack had targeted.
