Kim Yo Jong, the North Korean leader's younger sister, has been promoted to the nation's top ruling body, thus becoming a member of the State Affairs Commission (SAC), according to North Korea's state-run KCNA.
Kim Yo Jong was already the key adviser to her brother, but her new seat on the SAC is considered the highest official position she has ever held.
Relations with South Korea
As Vice Department Director of the WPK Central Committee, she made public statements regarding inter-Korean relations and the new Biden administration and defended North Korea's missile launches.
She called on South Korea to make "the correct choice" if it wants reconciliation and development in inter-Korean relations, as well as another summit.
Kim Yo Jong also warned that before resuming talks, the US and South Korea should stop their hostile policy against North Korea and the South Korean President must declare an end to the war between the two Koreas.
