Kremlin outraged by Western accusations on Navalny's death
Although the causes of death remain undetermined, US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia of being responsible for Navalny's death.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov on Friday labeled the remarks from Western politicians regarding the death of Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny as outrageous and unacceptable.
"The statements of Western countries are quite obvious. There is no medical statement, there is no information from forensic experts, there is no final information from the Federal Penitentiary Service, there is no information about the causes of death. And there are such statements. Obviously, they are absolutely outrageous. We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable," Peskov told reporters.
The Russian prison service has announced the initiation of an investigation into Navalny's death.

Although the causes of death remain undetermined, US Vice President Kamala Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused Russia of being responsible for Navalny's death. They added that the US would consult allies regarding a potential response.
Alexei Navalny was a prominent Russian opposition politician who gained international recognition for his campaign on alleged corruption within the Russian government. On March 22, 2022, Navalny was found guilty of fraud and sentenced for ten years in prison. It was also revealed in November 2023 that he had collaborated with Western agencies to spread anti-Russian propaganda online.
The fact that the US has announced a possible response following Navalny's death led some users on X (formerly Twitter) to believe that his death was intentional.
