Launch of Sheikh Jarrah Cultural Street Initiative in Occupied Al-Quds
With the aim of strengthening the steadfastness of the homeowners threatened with eviction by Israeli authorities in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the neighborhood committee launches a variety of cultural activities.
The Sheikh Jarrah Neighborhood Units Committee in al-Quds inaugurated the activities of the Sheikh Jarrah Cultural Street, near the houses threatened with demolition by the Israeli occupation in the neighborhood.
The Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood committee said, "The activities that started from the house of the al-Jaouni family, which is under threat of demolition, aim to strengthen the steadfastness of al-Quds residents, through a set of patriotic cultural activities within the neighborhood, and to transform the street into a point that brings attendance and cultural events permanently."
In turn, one of the residents of the homes threatened with eviction in the neighborhood, Karmel al-Qasim, added that the opening included a dabke dance (traditional) performance by a local group, in addition to musical activities, as well as the screening of the movie "We Will Not Leave", as well as handicrafts and a photo exhibition.
The Sheikh Jarrah Cultural Street event came as the latest response to the Israeli attempt to impose a complete blackout on the neighborhood, and in support of the people of Sheikh Jarrah in the battle of ethnic cleansing they are facing.

On November 2, Palestinian families in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood announced their rejection of the "settlement" offer submitted by the Israeli Supreme Court regarding the evacuation of their homes in the neighborhood, in favor of settlers.
The Israeli Supreme Court had already rejected an appeal submitted by Palestinian landowners in Sheikh Jarrah against evacuating it in favor of settlers and imposed a fine on them.
The families have resided in their homes since 1956, according to an agreement with the Jordanian government at the time and the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
