Lavrov announces next Astana Troika meeting on Syria
According to Russia's Minister of Foreign, the next Astana Troika meeting on Syria will be held in Kazakhistan in the next few weeks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced in a press briefing that the next Astana Troika meeting on Syria will be held in a few weeks, in the Kazakh capital, with the participation of observers from Arab countries.
In a related context, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh affirmed Monday that cooperation between Russia and Iran is good on all levels, especially in Syria.
During a press conference, Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran is glad that some countries have realized that their previous policies toward Syria were not correct and cannot change Syria's future, calling on these countries to change their policies toward Syria as soon as possible.
The 16th round of talks in Astana, which lasted for two days, was concluded in Kazakhstan on July 8, with the participation of Iran, Russia, and Turkey.
The talks discussed the delivery mechanism of international aid and the resumption of the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
Geir O. Pedersen, the UN Special Envoy to Syria also participated in the talks along with a delegation of Syria's neighboring countries Iraq, Jordan, and Lebanon as observers.
