The fourth and final round of Lebanon’s municipal and mayoral elections kicked off. Polling stations opened their doors to southerners today, Saturday, to take part in the elections in the South and Nabatieh governorates in Southern Lebanon.
Nearly 80 municipalities secured victories by acclamation (uncontested wins) for both their municipal councils and mayors, thanks to consensus between the Amal Movement and Hezbollah or to familial agreements.
The Central Operations Room for Monitoring Elections at the Ministry of Interior reported voter turnout percentages from 7:00 am until 8:40 am (Beirut time) as follows: Hasbaya 3.23%, Jezzine 2.45%, Marj’youn 1.54%, Bint Jbeil 1.68%, Nabatieh 1.89%, Tyre 1.97%, and Saida 2.06%.

President Aoun calls for mass participation from Saida Serail
Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun, along with Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar, visited the operations room at Saida Serail to supervise the launch of the election day in the South Lebanon and Nabatieh governorates.
President Aoun called for a high voter turnout as people choose those who represent their development aspirations.
'Will to live is stronger than death'
He maintained that the elections in the South affirm that “the will to live is stronger than death and the will to build is mightier than destruction.”
He stated that taking part in “building local towns and tomorrow’s Lebanon for the future generation is both a duty and a responsibility,” congratulating those who won by acclamation and those who will win through the ballot box, emphasizing that “the position is not a privilege but a responsibility.”
President Aoun paid tribute to the souls of the martyrs and saluted the work of the security and judicial agencies, along with all those who contributed and continue to contribute to the success of the electoral process.
Speaking alongside the president from Nabatieh Serail, which they also visited as part of their tour in the region to follow up on the launch of the elections, Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmad al-Najjar, said, “Lebanon always rises from between the rubble," announcing the launch of elections in all the relevant areas.
Later, President Aoun cast his vote in his hometown of al-Ayshiyeh in the Jezzine district of South Lebanon.
This phase of elections, which includes the South and Nabatieh governorates, began amid the ongoing Israeli aggression, which poses a challenge to the electoral process.
