Mahmoud Abbas urges UN emergency session following Nuseirat massacre
The President is actively involved in diplomatic engagements and working closely with Arab and international stakeholders to arrange an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council (UNSC), according to reports.
Palestinian news agency WAFA reported on Saturday that Mahmoud Abbas, the President of the Palestinian Authority, urged the UN Security Council (UNSC) to hold an emergency session following the massacre that unfolded at the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip.
"In response to the gruesome massacre perpetrated by Israeli occupation forces this morning in the Nuseirat refugee camp, President Mahmoud Abbas has instructed Palestine's envoy to the United Nations to request an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the repercussions of the bloodshed," the news agency said.
The agency reported that Abbas is actively involved in diplomatic engagements and working closely with Arab and international stakeholders to arrange an extraordinary session of the UN Security Council (UNSC).
The aim is to address Israeli military actions against Palestinians and to compel "Israel" to adhere to international resolutions, particularly those advocating for a ceasefire.
It is worth recalling that Abbas has previously issued accusatory remarks, blaming the Resistance operation on October 7 providing "Israel" with an excuse to launch a genocide in Gaza.
