Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim demanded that US-giant Meta stop acting as "Israel's" tool after Instagram deleted his comments on the assassination of the head of Hamas' Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh.

"Let this serve as a clear and unequivocal message to Meta: Cease this display of cowardice and stop acting as instruments of the oppressive Zionist Israeli regime!" the prime minister said, and published screengrabs of notifications he received from Instagram claiming his posts and comments went against the platform's community guidelines.

Hamas confirmed on Wednesday the martyrdom of the Hamas leader, noting that the head of the political bureau was killed in a "treacherous Zionist airstrike on his residence in Tehran."

US ‘accomplice’ in Haniyeh assassination: Tehran

Iran's Foreign Ministry described the US as an "accomplice" to the Israeli assassination of Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh, which it described as a "heinous act of terrorism."

In an official statement issued on Wednesday, the ministry underscored the involvement of the US government, which supports "Israel's" occupation and extermination of Palestinians, in the martyrdom of Haniyeh.

Assassinating Haniyeh "serves as a testament to the terrorist nature of the Israeli regime and highlights the aggressive and lawless behavior of the criminal mafia ruling over the occupied Palestinian territories," according to a release by the ministry.

The ministry further stated that the targeted strike against the Hamas commander on Iranian land was a clear breach of international law and posed a major danger to regional and global peace and security.

While strongly denouncing the killing, the ministry stated that the Islamic Republic has the inherent right to respond effectively to such transgressions of its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
