Mass group demonstrations across Europe in support of Gaza on Land Day
The demonstrations, unprecedented in momentum and scope, took place in many European capitals like London, Paris, and Amsterdam.
Mass group demonstrations took place Saturday in several European countries as part of the weekly ongoing protests since the beginning of the Israeli war on Gaza. However, this week it coincided with Land Day.
The demonstrations showcased unprecedented high momentum and a wide scope across Europe, extending to many cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Oslo, and others.
United Kingdom
An estimated tens of thousands of people participated in a demonstration in London, marching for a distance of two kilometers in the center of the capital until they reached Trafalgar Square, the largest square in the capital, which is expected to witness further gatherings up until evening hours.
This demonstration, the eleventh since October 7, urged for an end to the Israeli war and genocide against Gaza and to stop the famine while calling on the British government to stop providing arms to "Israel."
France
In Paris, several French representatives and senators participated in a new demonstration in light of Land Day, one of the biggest demonstrations in Paris recently.
The protests raised several slogans including demands for a ceasefire, stopping the Israeli murder of children as well as the Israeli genocide against Gaza.
Germany
In Berlin, people took to the streets today in light of Land Day and in support of the Palestinian people in Gaza.
The protestors believe that their demonstrations have played a major part in pressuring the German government to shift its stance on the Israeli occupation recently.
During Saturday's demonstration, they raised several slogans with a ceasefire in Gaza being the most important.
The protestors also announced that they are organizing another mass demonstration set to take place on Eid al-Fitr in Berlin.
What is Land Day?
Palestinian Land Day has been commemorated by Palestinians on March 30 of each year since 1976 when Israeli forces seized thousands of dunams of privately owned or communal lands in al-Jalil, in occupied 48' Palestinian territories.
The event led to a general strike and popular marches from al-Jalil al-Naqqab, in addition to confrontations resulting in the martyrdom of six Palestinians, while hundreds were injured or detained.
