Saudi Arabia's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) called Iranian president-elect Masoud Pezeshkian, congratulating him on winning the presidential elections in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Both officials praised the development of bilateral relations between the two governments, stressing the importance of continuing to enhance cooperation in various fields, the state-run Saudi Press Agency reported on Wednesday.

On July 12, Pezekshian published a written message, titled, "My message to the new world."

The president-elect expressed readiness to work with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, and regional organizations "to deepen our economic ties, bolster trade relations, promote joint-venture investment, tackle common challenges, and move toward establishing a regional framework for dialogue, confidence-building, and development."

He recalled how Beijing mediated the restoration of diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia, during the term of martyr President Ebrahim Raisi, calling it proof of China's "constructive vision and forward-thinking" and assuring that Tehran would continue to work closely with Beijing toward a new global order.

Martyr Raisi's government spearheaded Iran's active pursuit of improving bilateral relations with neighboring countries and similar-minded governments around the world. The highlight of these endeavors was the rapprochement with Saudi Arabia where the governments agreed to restore diplomatic relations and reopen missions in respective countries following seven years of strained ties.

In an exclusive interview for Al Mayadeen on May 2, 2023, Raisi pointed out that the restoration of ties with Riyadh frustrated Tehran's enemies, including the Israeli occupation, which seeks to foment discord between Islamic countries.

Pezeshkian will look to carry on developing ties with countries around the world, in Latin America, Africa, and West Asia, in a favorable environment provided by months of work by Iran's martyred President and Foreign Affairs Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
