Medvedev warns 'irresponsible scoundrels' of bringing war home
Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Russian Security Council, criticized Western leaders for provocative statements and threats, warning of potential nuclear responses amid tensions over Ukraine.
After the Russian Defense Ministry announced an imminent exercise to test the ability to utilize non-strategic nuclear weapons, on Monday, following a direct order from Russian President Vladimir Putin, the deputy head of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, took a swing at what he called the "the infantile morons in the West."
While Putin ordered the training in direct response to "provocative statements and threats" by Western officials, Medvedev took the time to explain the wrongdoings of the West.
"The chorus of irresponsible scoundrels among the Western political elite calling for sending their troops to a non-existent country is expanding," Medvedev explained, referring to the war in Ukraine and the possibility that NATO would move to put boots on the ground in Kiev.
The former Russian President explained that the expanding Western support and urging for the "active use" of "missile weapons, supplied by them to the Banderites, throughout the territory of Russia," included the "U.S. Congress, the French and British leadership, and some lunatics from the Baltic States and Poland."
The statement made by Medvedev on his Telegram channel further stressed that such actions are "not a spring aggravation, but a cynical calculation for political dividends," adding, "This class really does not want to logically connect elementary things."
Moreover, Medvedev threatened to take the war to their countries, explaining that "Sending their troops onto the territory of Ukraine will directly involve their countries in a war, to which we will have to respond. And, unfortunately, not on the territory of Ukraine. In this case, none of them will be able to hide neither on Capitol Hill, nor in the Elysee Palace, nor at 10 Downing Street. There will be a world catastrophe."
The former president and current deputy of the Security Council then reaffirmed through a history lesson that "Kennedy and Khrushchev were able to realize this more than 60 years ago. But the infantile morons in the West, who have seized power today, do not want to realize it."
According to Medvedev, that is why "the General Staff has begun preparations for the exercises, including measures to practice the preparation and use of non-strategic nuclear weapons."
Western troops may join battlefield if 'Ukraine requests': MP
Ukrainian MP Aleksey Goncharenko thanked French President Emmanuel Macron for adding to the table the possibility of deploying Western troops to Ukraine during an interview with French broadcaster LCI.
Macron suggested the possibility earlier “if the Russians were to break through the front lines [and, second,] if there were a Ukrainian request.”
Goncharenko viewed Macron’s comments as a “very good signal” to Russia, noting that foreign troops deployed in Ukraine could be assigned to train Ukrainian troops, alongside other tasks, without engaging with Russian forces directly.
The representative, when asked if Ukraine would call in Western reinforcements if Russia approaches Kiev or Kharkov, said, "Yes, I think it is possible… If the frontline situation shows us that Ukraine cannot stop [Russian President Vladimir] Putin alone without European military support and troops, this is absolutely possible."
