Al-Miqdad: We prefer not to raise Syria membership in AL summit
Syrian FM Faisal al-Miqdad confirms to his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra that his country does not want to raise the issue of restoring Damascus' membership in the Arab League during the upcoming summit.
Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal al-Miqdad confirmed to his Algerian counterpart Ramtane Lamamra on Sunday that his country prefers not to raise the issue of restoring Syria's membership in the Arab League during the upcoming summit.

In a statement, the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the reason is "Syria's keenness to contribute to uniting the Arab stance in facing the challenges posed by the current situation at the regional and international levels."
Earlier in the day, Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra confirmed that his country is ready to host the Arab summit in November 2022.
Lamamra's remarks came in response to reports that have been circulated on some Gulf websites claiming that the upcoming Arab summit might be postponed.
The reports also claimed that some Arab countries are dissatisfied with Algeria's efforts in relation to Arab reunification.
On July 24, the Director General of Communication and Information at the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed to Al Mayadeen that Algeria will propose once again inviting Syria to participate in the upcoming Arab League Summit during a meeting of Arab League Foreign Ministers in Cairo next September.
