The generation of the two great martyrs, Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine and Imad Mughniyeh, laid the groundwork for the following generations to protect Lebanon until today, Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Friday.

Martyr Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine is the icon of an entire generation, Sayyed Nasrallah said on the sixth martyrdom anniversary of the senior resistance official. "He was present on all fronts, as in the fronts in Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria, through his name 'Zulfikar'."

Sayyed Nasrallah praised the martyred leader, reminding that he was a resistance fighter, wounded in action, and martyred. "He spent his life combatting Zionists and takfiris."

The Nakba was a catastrophe for all Arabs

The Hezbollah chief commented on the Palestinian Nakba (directly translated from Arabic means catastrophe), which was perpetrated by the Israeli occupation 74 years ago, underlining that the Nakba was not only for occupied Palestine but rather for the Arab World as a whole. "It is an incident whose calamities and pains are neverending."

"The most important thing about the Nakba today is the Palestinian people's stance on the issue throughout history, the past few weeks, and Seif Al-Quds."

The Palestinian people "have made up their mind a long time ago, and they are resisting [the occupation]," Sayyed Nasrallah said, noting that he believes the Palestinian people today believe in the resistance more than ever.

"The Palestinian people are telling the world that they are no longer waiting for the Arab regimes, the Arab League, or the United Nations," he said. 

"A key characteristic of the generation of Sayyed Mustafa Badreddine is that it did not wait for Arab states, Islamic organizations, the International Community, or the UN Security Council. It started resisting in Lebanon in the early hours of the invasion."

"Relations with the Arab world are an undisputed given, but no one should be deceived into thinking they could protect Lebanon [...] when it comes to confronting the occupation and protecting Lebanon against imminent threats, I do not believe that anyone could rely on the Arab regimes," Sayyed Nasrallah stressed.

"The party that signed the May 17 agreement is championing sovereignty and relations with the Arab World," the Hezbollah top official said. The May 17 agreement is an accord signed by the Lebanese Phalangists with the Israeli occupation and set the stage for all-out normalization between Beirut and "Tel Aviv".

He went on to stress the importance of establishing a just state capable of defending its sovereignty and interests. "The resistance contributed to exposing and dismantling various Israeli spy networks in cooperation with the state apparatus [...] and the latter is determined to continue dismantling spy networks."

In light of the growing capabilities of the resistance, "the Israelis are growing more desperate, and they are recruiting spies in an unprofessional manner," Sayyed Nasrallah said.

We are the most involved in protecting Lebanon

"The decisions of our political party have always been right, and they have been victorious since 1982 [...] the issue in Lebanon has been about decisions - since the [Israeli] invasion until today, passing through the international war on Syria," Sayyed Nasrallah said.

There are wide chasms in Lebanon, the Hezbollah leader said, expecting that challenges were awaiting Lebanon in the near future. Talking to the parties questioning Hezbollah's allegiance, Sayyed Nasrallah said, "we are the party that is the most concerned about protecting the country and its identity."

"We were born here, and we will be buried here. No one should expect that we falter or give up the country that we paid all of this precious blood to protect," he said.

"The imminent challenge is the economic and living crisis, in addition to the bread, medicine, and power crisis - not the Resistance's arms," Sayyed Nasrallah added.

The Hezbollah chief commented on the reports surrounding former US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs David Schenker, referencing the top US diplomat's words about the parties funded by Washington. "Schenker, who knows them the most, called them narcissistic and individualistic that do not care for the nation nor the people."

"According to experts, some of the countries that normalized ties with Israel are struggling economically, and they are on the brink of collapse. One of them has already started selling its assets," he revealed.

"We do not enjoy the luxury of time, and this requires us to move urgently in parliament and within the government," he said while underlining the importance of moving eastward and opening up to both the East and the West. "Rapprochement with Syria would allow us to solve the issue of the migrants."

Additionally, he once again highlighted the importance of drilling for oil in the Mediterranean, saying it was "the main opportunity for getting ourselves of the crisis we are in, not begging and asking the International Monetary Fund for loans."
