Netanyahu could jeopardize 'Israel's' centenary: Israeli media
Israeli newspaper Haaretz discusses the failures of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu since his return to power, highlighting that the consequences of these failures are "severe" and have become "evident across all fronts."
In its editorial on Monday, Israeli newspaper Haaretz spoke about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's failures since his return to power, questioning whether the Zionist entity would last until its 100th anniversary.
The article detailed that "Netanyahu promised, seven years ago, to do everything in defense of Israel, until it reaches the centenary of its founding," adding that "as expected, he did the opposite of what he promised by weakening and dismantling it, threatening the entity's existence."
As per the article, since Netanyahu's return to power as head of the Kahanite and Haredi government, his mission has been to dismantle the regime, underestimating how the judicial amendments could weaken "Israel" and ignite what it described as a multi-front war, adding that "he walked with his eyes open into the trap set for him by the leader of Hamas in Gaza, Yahya Sinwar, on October 7."
"From the moment the war broke out, Netanyahu focused on his political survival as his highest goal," according to Haaretz, which noted that "he refuses to bear responsibility for the failure, and continues to divide the public, provoke conflict among them, push the coup against the regime, and lead Israel to a disastrous confrontation with the United States by rejecting any political settlement for the next day, and insisting on working in Rafah."
Netanyahu's policies push 'Israel' downhill
Since the outbreak of the war, Haaretz wrote, Netanyahu has prioritized his political survival above all else. It was noted that he adamantly avoided taking responsibility for any failures, instead choosing to sow division among the people, incite conflicts, advocate for a coup against the regime, and drive "Israel" into a disastrous confrontation with the United States by rejecting any political settlement and insisting on invading Rafah.
The newspaper further confirmed that "the severe repercussions of Netanyahu's neglect are evident across all fronts." As a result, 132 captives remain in the Gaza Strip, and settlements along the Lebanese borders with Palestine have been abandoned, leaving uncertainty about their future resettlement. Additionally, the crucial shipping route to Umm al-Rashrash [Eilat] has been shut down, and international airlines have ceased operations at Ben Gurion Airport.
Furthermore, "Israel's" credit rating has plummeted, with the deficit and inflation teetering on the brink of escalation. Concurrently, Iran has launched hundreds of missiles and drones at "Israel", exposing its inability to "defend itself unaided." It adds that, "Today, Israel faces accusations of genocide, with Netanyahu himself under scrutiny as a candidate." This was accompanied by an international arrest warrant, coinciding with US President Joe Biden's decision to halt arms shipments to the Israeli army.
The newspaper observed that "Netanyahu still has the opportunity to take a crucial step in saving Israel. He must resign, accept accountability for the catastrophe of October 7 and the shortcomings of the war, and free Israel from the grip of the oppressive government he has established."
It concluded by asserting that "only through this course of action will there be a chance to halt the war, restore Israel, and mend its foreign relations, thereby paving the way for the nation to commemorate the centennial of its establishment."
Netanyahu endangers Jews
In the same context, a report by The New York Times wrote that a sustainable victory in Gaza would not be in the books for Netanyahu, who is endangering Jews around the globe and undermining the US strategic goals in the Middle East.
US President Joe Biden's temporary suspension of weapons shipment to "Israel" is not the source of tension between the US and the occupation – Netanyahu's policies are.
Friedman says the temporary hold is "unfortunate", because this has enabled Netanyahu to show that it may not be Biden who's threatening "Israel", rather, it's Netanyahu. Seven months into the war on Gaza, Netanyahu's so-called "objectives" are far from being achieved.
