Ziv Agmon, recently appointed as the acting spokesperson for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, is facing suspension by the Israel Bar Association’s disciplinary court following a ruling that he violated the duty of loyalty to a client and acted in a manner unbecoming of a lawyer, according to Israeli media.
The disciplinary court's decision, handed down in April, found Agmon guilty of misconduct in a real estate transaction in which he transferred NIS 1.7 million from a client's trust fund to a seller without securing the necessary permits, Ynet revealed.
'Colossal negligence'
The court described the act as one of "colossal negligence", rejecting Agmon’s defense that the transfer was a clerical error and that he had not been active in the law firm run by his mother at the time.
It also stated that the transfer "was not a good-faith mistake" and that Agmon's conduct fell far below acceptable professional standards.
Agmon’s suspension was scheduled to take effect on July 1. However, he has appealed the ruling to the al-Quds District Court, which has temporarily frozen the suspension pending a final decision.
Agmon assumed the role of acting spokesperson after the dismissal of Omer Dostri, reportedly due to internal conflicts, including tensions with Netanyahu’s wife, Sara.
