New Biden family member in GOP limelight over business dealings
The head of the House Oversight Committee says a new member of US President Joe Biden's family has been revealed to be involved in shady business dealings.
Bank reports obtained in a subpoena have shown that a new member of US President Joe Biden's family has been involved in shady business dealings, reportedly receiving a cut of some $3 million wired to Hunter Biden's business associate John R. Walker, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Monday.
"There were three different Biden family members that received a cut from that $3 million, including a new Biden family member that's never before been included in any of these investigations," Comer told Fox News' America's Newsroom.
"What exactly did they do to receive that money? What was the purpose of that $3 million wire?" the Congressman wondered. "Now, that's just the first wire that we've actually been able to obtain bank records [...] There are many, many more."
Comer is set to reveal who the person in question is, though it is unclear when that is supposed to be.
The representative highlighted bank records that showed that in March 2017, Walker had $3 million wired to him by two individuals linked to the Chinese government after Biden left the vice presidency at the end of the Obama administration in 2017.
"The very next day after that wire was received, the Walker account started transferring money into three different Biden family members' accounts, including a new Biden family member that's never before been identified as someone being involved in the influence-peddling scheme," Comer told the conservative news channel.
Furthermore, the Kentucky representative said there were more Biden family members involved than Hunter Biden, dismissing the President's family's claims about the dealing being "for business" by saying, "We can’t identify any business. It appears it went into their personal account."
Hunter's laptop scandal
Hunter is notorious for his involvement in numerous scandals, including substance abuse, commercial sex, infidelity, tax fraud, and, most likely, high-level corruption. Nonetheless, he was so far been able to elude prosecution.
E-mails recovered from Hunter's abandoned laptop show that he played a major role in the acquisition of millions of dollars in funding for Metabiota, a Department of Defense contractor specializing in research on pandemic-causing diseases that could be used as bioweapons.
Democratic Representative Jamie Raskin accused his Republican counterpart of acting on behalf of former US President Donald Trump, who had throughout his bid for the presidency in 2020 constantly addressed Hunter Biden's scandals and alleged ties to foreign governments.
"I fear this wildly overbroad subpoena suggests that your interest in this investigation is not in pursuing defined facts or informing public legislation, but conducting a dragnet of political opposition research on behalf of former President Trump," Raskin wrote in a letter this week.
In response, Comer said he "[hasn't] spoken to Donald Trump since he left office," claiming that he "[doesn't] even know who Donald Trump's attorneys are. In that letter, he accused me of working with Donald Trump's attorneys. That is not true, and Jamie Raskin owes me an apology."
In reality, Comer said, "the purpose of that letter was to leak to the press that I had subpoenaed Bank of America two weeks ago [...] That was the purpose of the letter, and he just threw in a bunch of other false accusations. It's very disappointing that Jamie Raskin would stoop to that level."
This comes after it was revealed that former Rosemont Seneca businessman Eric Schwerin, Biden's primary business associate, allegedly agreed to reveal information to the Republican House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Biden's dubious financial dealings.
"[Schwerin] is cooperating with us," Comer said in late February. "His attorneys and my counsel are communicating on a regular basis. Now, I feel confident that he's going to work with us, and provide us with the information that we have requested."
Hunter Biden's personal calendar on the so-called "laptop from hell," which he left at a repair shop in Wilmington, Delaware, in April 2019, revealed that between 2008 and 2016, the younger Biden and Schwerin met frequently with then-US Vice President Joe Biden.
It showed that Hunter had at least 30 business meetings with his father in the White House or the Naval Observatory, and Schwerin was allegedly invited to 21 of the 30 gatherings.
Given their refusal to assist House GOP investigators, Comer insisted that the Bidens have something to hide. Both the US president and his son have categorically denied any wrongdoing, however, Hunter has revealed he is under federal criminal investigation for tax evasion.
