Hunter Biden's close friend working with GOP investigators
A GOP congressman says Hunter Biden's close friend is going to be a very valuable witness for the investigation into Biden's financial activity.
Former Rosemont Seneca businessman Eric Schwerin, Hunter Biden's primary business associate, has allegedly agreed to reveal information to the Republican House Oversight Committee, which is investigating Biden's dubious financial dealings.
James Comer (R-Ky.), House Oversight and Accountability Committee Chairman, claimed on Thursday on Just the News Not Noise show that "[Eric Schwerin] is cooperating with us."
"His attorneys and my counsel are communicating on a regular basis. Now, I feel confident that he's going to work with us, and provide us with the information that we have requested," Comer added.
According to US media, Schwerin is "one of the closest friends," a business associate, and "an emotional pillar" for US President Joe Biden's son Hunter.
The two allegedly met while working in then-President Bill Clinton's Commerce Department. Schwerin began working for the department in 1994, and 15 years later, he was appointed President of Rosemont Seneca Partners, an investment business created by Hunter Biden, Devon Archer, and Chris Heinz, John Kerry's stepson. Joe Biden was Barack Obama's vice president at the time.
Hunter Biden's personal calendar on the so-called "laptop from hell," which he left at a repair shop in Wilmington, Delaware, in April 2019, revealed that between 2008 and 2016, the younger Biden and Schwerin met frequently with then-US Vice President Joe Biden.
It showed that Hunter had at least 30 business meetings with his father in the White House or the Naval Observatory, and Schwerin was allegedly invited to 21 of the 30 gatherings.
The fact that most of the aforementioned meetings took place days or even hours following Hunter's discussions with high-profile international clients prompted several US conservative journalists to speculate that the younger Biden obviously discussed his business activities with his father.
Moreover, Schwerin was reportedly involved in tax and financial discussions with Joe Biden as early as 2010. He could expose Hunter's financial schemes and answer whether or not the incumbent president was aware of them. Joe Biden has consistently denied having any knowledge of his son's business operations.
"I think that Schwerin is going to be a very valuable witness for us in this investigation," Comer said, indicating that Schwerin's cooperation was a watershed moment that could make other crucial witnesses follow suit.
Comer's announcement came after the House Oversight and Accountability Committee heard that Hunter Biden and his uncle, James Biden, refused to cooperate with the investigation into the first family's overseas business, particularly those in China and Ukraine.
Given their refusal to assist House GOP investigators, Comer insisted that the Bidens have something to hide. Both the US president and his son have categorically denied any wrongdoing, However, Hunter has said he is under federal criminal investigation for tax evasion.
