North Gaza hospitals decimated, only one surgeon left: UNRWA official
"Israel's" systematic eradication of north Gaza continues to sound the alarms as the healthcare system is irrevocably destroyed, making the situation "beyond apocalyptic".
All hospitals in besieged areas in northern Gaza have been completely destroyed, with only one surgeon left, forcing people to "fend and survive by themselves", UNRWA senior emergency officer Louise Wateridge alarmed through The New Yorker magazine.
According to the report, three hospitals in north Gaza have been directly hit by strikes and decimated, doctors have been detained, and "bodies are just lying on the ground."
Wateridge also reiterated that "Israel" continues to reject all UN appeals to allow aid into the north, stressing that besieged areas have been left without any food for an entire month.
Earlier this week, "Israel's" military announced on its official Telegram channel that it has opened the Kisufim crossing "in accordance with directives from the political echelon," to allow the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which has been under siege by the occupation for over a year.
However, according to official Israeli figures, the amount of aid reaching Gaza has dropped to its lowest level since December. Commenting on the minimal efforts, Louise Wateridge told a Geneva press briefing that no food had been allowed to enter northern Gaza for an entire month, Reuters reported.
She told the media that "anything that happens now is already too late."
Over 100,000 besieged in north Gaza
Over 100,000 people are currently in the besieged northern Gaza Strip, 60% of whom are children and women, Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal told Al Mayadeen on Sunday.
Regarding medical services in the northern part of the Strip, Basal pointed out that there is no medical treatment available there, adding that the world, which boasts about democracy, is watching Gaza being slaughtered.
Civil Defense is receiving numerous pleas from residents in northern Gaza calling for help to rescue and recover the wounded and martyrs from under the rubble, the spokesperson indicated.
However, he clarified that medical teams currently present in the North are civilian teams, adding that the Israeli occupation military does not want any medical system to operate there.
