Ongoing aggression on Gaza may open other fronts: Amir-Abdollahian
The Iranian FM says Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was in response to the crimes of the Zionist entity.
Iranian Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, told Al Mayadeen's correspondent, upon his arrival in Lebanon on Thursday evening, that Iran continues to strongly support the Palestinian resistance, both politically and in the media, emphasizing that in light of the ongoing Israeli aggression, war crimes, and the siege on Gaza, other fronts joining the confrontation against "Israel" is possible.
Amir-Abdollahian indicated that Iran's discussions with Saudi Arabia come as part of Tehran's strategy to support Palestine. In the first phone call between the two leaders, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi agreed with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) on Wednesday on the necessity of ending war crimes against occupied Palestine.
He stressed that Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was in response to the crimes of the Zionist entity, strongly rejecting ongoing violations against the Palestinian people.
The top Iranian diplomat said that cutting off water and electricity and targeting civilians in Gaza are war crimes committed by the occupation entity, noting that the Zionist entity and its backers will be responsible for the consequences of continuing attacks on the Palestinian people.
Amir-Abdollahian arrived in Beirut on Thursday evening at the start of his visit to the region and was welcomed by a delegation of Hezbollah and Amal MPs in the Lebanese Parliament, as well as representatives of Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement.
Hamas representative in Lebanon Ahmad Abdel Hadi told Al Mayadeen, "We came to Beirut Airport to welcome the Iranian Foreign Minister," expressing his gratitude for Iran's solidarity with Palestine.
He added that "on behalf of our people and our camps in Lebanon, we thank the Islamic Republic of Iran for its supportive stance," noting that Amir-Abdollahian came to stand with the Palestinian people and support their cause.
Earlier on Thursday, the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon, Mojtaba Amani, announced that Amir-Abdollahian's tour of the region is "in the context of the ongoing events in Palestine, the serious crimes committed against Gaza, and their dangerous repercussions."
The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed that more than 1,500 Gazans were killed and around 6,600 others have been injured in the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
