Over 50% of Americans doubt US elections reflect will of people – Poll
A 1-month poll conducted by research company SSRS for CNN showed today that some elected officials are likely to overturn the results of an election in the US if their party does not win.
US elections are believed by only 58% of Americans to reflect the will of the people, a poll by research company SSRS for CNN showed on Thursday.
"In general, how confident are you that elections in America today reflect the will of the people?" Participants were asked. 33% answered they are "not at all confident," and 25% said they are "just a little confident."
Those who were "very confident" that elections actually reflect the people's will accounted for just 16%, and another 26% seemed to be "somewhat confident."
According to the same survey, almost half of respondents (48%) believe that some elected officials are likely to overturn the results of an election in the US if their party does not win.
The survey was conducted between June 13 and July 13, 2022 among 1,459 adult US citizens. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
