A joint report issued by the Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Authority and the Palestinian Prisoners Club revealed an alarming increase in the number of arrests since October 7, reaching 8480.
The report primarily focused on imprisonment made among Palestinians residing in the occupied territories of the West Bank and Al-Quds, arrests that occur under various circumstances, including those detained from their homes, at military checkpoints, and those coerced into surrendering under pressure.
The data provided in the report comprises both current detainees and those who were subsequently released by Israeli forces.
20 arrests made overnight
The hike coincided with the arrest of at least 20 Palestinians overnight, including women, children, and former prisoners.
The report states that the arrests were carried out in several key governorates, including Ramallah, Al Khalil, Nablus, Tulkarm, Jenin, and occupied Al-Quds.
Alongside the arrests, reports emerged of widespread abuse directed towards the detainees and their families.
There have also been instances of homes and vehicles belonging to citizens being destroyed and seized by Israeli forces.
Some were also reported to have been taken hostage during the raids.
