On Palestinian Prisoners' Day, Hamas prioritizes their liberation
On Palestinian Prisoners' Day, Hamas calls on the Palestinian people to unify efforts, mobilize, and intensify actions to support the detainees.
The Palestinian Resistance movement Hamas confirmed on the Palestinian Prisoners' Day that the liberation of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli occupation prisons is at the top of its priorities in honor of their sacrifices and steadfastness.
In a press release, Hamas said that this year's Palestinian Prisoners' Day comes amid the heroic battle of Al-Aqsa Flood, where the Palestinian people and valiant Resistance have united for over six months, defending the land, principles, and sanctities and achieving victory for al-Quds and the detainees.
The movement emphasized that the Israeli prison administration continues to commit heinous crimes against the detainees, including medical neglect, torture, and direct killing. It highlighted that 16 detainees have been martyred inside prisons due to these horrific crimes since October 7, 2023.
Hamas pointed out that the Israeli occupation exploited its aggression on Gaza to practice "forced disappearance" against the citizens of the Strip, kidnapping, arresting, and torturing them to death.
According to the statement, the Israeli occupation forces are still detaining over 9,500 prisoners, including 3,660 administrative detainees, 56 journalists, at least 80 women, more than 200 children, and 17 members of the Legislative Council.
The Palestinian Resistance group underlined that the systematic and horrific violations and brutal torture practices committed against the prisoners from the Gaza Strip constitute a war crime added to the series of sadistic crimes perpetrated by the Nazi-like Israeli occupation army against the Palestinian people.
Hamas held the occupation fully responsible for the well-being of thousands of detainees in the occupied West Bank since October 7 and called for intervention to save them and their immediate release.
The movement called on the Palestinian people and their national factions to unify efforts, mobilize, and intensify actions to support the detainees and stand by them through all means.
It also urged the Arab and Islamic nations and free people worldwide to launch a global movement that supports the cause of Palestinian detainees in Israeli occupation prisons.
The statement called on human rights and humanitarian institutions worldwide to expose the Israeli occupation's crimes against prisoners and detainees from Gaza, the West Bank, al-Quds, and the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.
Elsewhere, Hamas urged active action to pressure the Israeli occupation to stop its crimes against detainees, prosecute the perpetrators in international courts, and try them as war criminals.
