Pakistan's army chief, General Asim Munir, has raised concerns that separatist and militant groups along the Pakistan-Iran border may exploit any "collapse of authority" in Iran as a result of ongoing Israeli aggression, Reuters reported.
As "Israel" continues its attacks on Iranian territory, reports indicate that the leaders of some anti-Iranian and anti-Pakistan armed groups near the border have repeatedly indicated that they are seeking to destabilize the Iranian government or see it toppled.
Armed groups seek to exploit instability
Pakistan shares a long and porous border with Iran, particularly in the Balochistan region, where separatist and militant movements are active.
Jaish al-Adl (JaA), an Iranian group formed from ethnic Baluch and minorities and which operates from Pakistan, viewed "Israel’s" war on Iran as a great opportunity.
“Jaish al-Adl extends the hand of brotherhood and friendship to all the people of Iran and calls on all people, especially the people of Baluchistan, as well as the armed forces, to join the ranks of the Resistance,” the group said in a statement on June 13.
General Munir warned that any unrest in Iran could heighten cross-border threats, including arms smuggling and militant infiltration, as Islamabad depends heavily on Tehran's cooperation to maintain border security.
Islamabad concerned about Israeli attacks on nuclear facilities
Islamabad has expressed deep concern over the possibility of Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. This issue was highlighted during a recent meeting between General Munir and US President Donald Trump at the White House.
During the discussion, both parties addressed the situation in Iran and the broader regional implications.
Trump commented on Pakistan's stance, stating, "they're not happy about anything," in reference to Islamabad's view on the war.
General Munir's meeting with Trump emphasized the urgency of de-escalating the situation and preventing further destabilization in the region, according to Pakistan’s military.
Pakistani officials have repeatedly underscored the importance of Iran's internal stability for regional security.

Pakistan condemns Israeli attacks on Iran as violation of international law
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry has condemned "Israel’s" attacks on Iran, labeling them a violation of international law.
“This is for us a very serious issue what is happening in our brotherly country of Iran,” Shafqat Ali Khan, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Thursday.
“It imperils the entire regional security structures, it impacts us deeply.”
Iran has responded to the aggression under Operation True Promise 3, targeting Israeli military and strategic positions across the occupied Palestinian territories with ballistic missiles and drones.
