Palestinian prisoner Khalil Awawdeh transferred to hospital, again
The Palestinian Prisoner Club reports that the Israeli occupation transferred prisoner Khalil Awawdeh, who has been on hunger strike for 69, to a hospital as he suffers from grave weakness.
The Israeli occupation forces have transferred the prisoner Khalil Awawdeh, who has been on hunger strike for 69 days, to "Asaf Harofeh" hospital and decided to keep him there, the Palestinian Prisoners Club (PPC) reported on Tuesday.
Awawdeh suffers from severe weakness and dehydration, in addition to problems with his optic nerves and his limbs, stressing that this was a "dangerous indicator" of the prisoner's health condition.
Despite his critical health condition, the PPC said the occupation was still insisting on its refusal of ending Awawdeh's administrative detention, while there are no solutions for this issue to date.
Occupation authorities are purposely delaying answering his demand to tire him out and cause him health problems that would be difficult to treat later on. This is one of the Israeli authorities' policies, which aims to wear down prisoners' physical well-being.
Throughout the past few years, in which hundreds of prisoners went on open hunger strikes, the Israeli occupation worked on maiming Palestinian prisoners so as to teach others a lesson not to go on hunger strike and discourage them from demanding their rights.
Israeli authorities arrested Awawdeh on December 27, 2021, and placed him in administrative detention for a period of six months. He had already been placed in detention on multiple occasions since 2002. This is the fifth time he has been arrested, including three administrative detentions. He is also married and has four girls.
