Palestinian Resistance Leaders Affirm Prisoners' Cause Is Top Priority
Palestinian Resistance leaders say to Al Mayadeen that the prisoners' battle is still open with the Israeli occupation.
The leader of the Islamic Jihad Movement Mohammad Shallah said that "the battle is still open with the Israeli occupation."
In an interview for Al Mayadeen, Shallah stressed that the Movement will stand by the prisoners to the fullest extent, warned the occupation against compromising their lives, and pointed out that the martyrdom of any of the prisoners will only escalate the situation.
Shallah indicated that the importance of this battle is no less than that of the battles waged in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, occupied al-Quds, and all of Palestine.
He affirmed that the Resistance is ready to engage in open war in case any of the prisoners is martyred and that the Movement will not stand still until that happens.
The prisoners will see that all the factions and Palestinians are supporting them shoulder to shoulder, emphasized Shallah.
He concluded his interview by stating that the organizational structure of the Islamic Jihad has become stronger after successfully managing to extract its demands from the Israeli occupation, asserting that the PIJ's victory in its last prisoners' battle is a victory for all the Palestinians.
Radwan: We will not let the prisoners down
For his part, Hamas official Ismail Radwan told Al Mayadeen that the heroic prisoners on hunger strike are facing real dangers.
He stressed that the Movement will not let the prisoners down and that their cause is Hamas' top priority.
Radwan pointed out that the door is open to support the prisoners from outside the prisons, emphasizing that there are ongoing activities in support of the prisoners throughout Palestine.
He also called on the Palestinian Authority to act at the international level in this regard.
The Hamas official also held the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the lives of the seven prisoners.
Abu Sharkh: Popular support is required in solidarity with the striking prisoners
For his part, the Spokesperson for the Prisoners Information Office Moaz Abu Sharkh called for popular support in solidarity with the prisoners, especially the ones on hunger strike in protest of administrative detention and whose health conditions are deteriorating.
He also pointed out that the previous movements in support of the prisoners have succeeded in alleviating their sufferings, and thus the Israeli occupation has come to realize that any such support movement in the West Bank and the occupied al-Quds will ignite the situation and lead to unwanted consequences.
Seven prisoners are currently on hunger strike in protest of administrative detention:
Kayed Al-Fasfous: 110 days
Miqdad Al-Qawasmi: 103 days
Alaa al-Araj: 85 days
Hisham Abu-Hawash: 77 days
Shadi Abu-Aker: 69 days
Ayyad Hraimi: 40 days
Louay al-Ashqar (22 days)
In solidarity with the six prisoners, Ratib Hraibat has been on a hunger strike for 24 days in Megiddo Prison.
