Israeli occupation forces and settlers escalated their attacks on cities and villages in the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, amid parallel political escalation, as the Knesset approved two bills concerning the territory.
A Palestinian youth was shot by Israeli troops' live ammunition as Palestinians confronted them at the "Street 10" junction in the city of Nablus. Further Israeli incursions took place in the Nablus area, with forces raiding the town of Sebastia to the northwest and the Ras al-Ain neighborhood.

Elsewhere, Israeli occupation forces conducted a widespread raid on the village of Umm Safa, northwest of Ramallah, surrounding it from all directions and cutting off the only alternative road into the village.
Israeli forces carried out similar assaults in Tulkarm as well, raiding the town of Anabta on the city's eastern flank, where they set up a checkpoint and proceeded to search vehicles.
Israeli forces also raided the town of al-Ram, north of occupied al-Quds, while in a separate incident, the village of Susiya in the Masafer Yatta area, south of al-Khalil, was invaded by settlers who attacked Palestinian homes.

'Israel' approves bills imposing 'sovereignty' over West Bank territories
This on-the-ground escalation coincides with a political one, marked by the Israeli Knesset giving preliminary approval to a bill concerning the imposition of "sovereignty" over the West Bank.
On October 22, the Knesset narrowly approved a bill in a preliminary reading to apply Israeli "sovereignty" over the West Bank, pushing it forward despite significant diplomatic pressure and even attempts by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to slow down the process. Another, more limited bill to "annex" Ma'ale Adumim was also passed.
The first bill, which was approved in a razor-thin preliminary vote of 25 to 24 and is now being forwarded to the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee, advances despite President Trump's statement to reporters at the White House in September, "I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank."
The more limited "annexation" bill, sponsored by opposition Yisrael Beytenu party chairman Avigdor Liberman, also passed in a preliminary reading by a vote of 32-9. The bill calls to apply "sovereignty" to the West Bank settlement of Ma’ale Adumim near occupied al-Quds, a community the Israeli government is actively working to expand.
