Pelosi vows ‘ironclad’ US support for “Israel”
The dust-up over the Iron Dome never deterred the US from opening its arms to “Israel”, providing it with funds despite its growing economic setbacks.
Despite the opposition of certain progressive members of the party, the Democrat-controlled House passed a resolution authorizing US budget dollars to fund “Israel’s” restock its nearly depleted Iron Dome missiles in September 2021.
In a speech to “Israel's” parliament, the Knesset, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi vowed "ironclad" US support. She specifically voiced her hope that the US Senate will soon adopt legislation to support the replenishment of “Israel's” Iron Dome air defenses.
The United States has obsessively included funds for the program in its overall federal spending on several occasions despite the opposition of members of the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, who consider “Israel” an “apartheid state” guilty of war crimes.
"We're hoping to get that done very soon in the Senate", Pelosi said.
She went on to promise “Israel” assistance in various areas of defense, including the fight against Iran. Furthermore, Pelosi called Iran's nuclear program a "global threat," despite Tehran's repeated assurances to world leaders that it has no plans to produce nuclear weapons.
"We are together in the fight against terrorism posed by Iran, both in the region and also its nuclear development", Pelosi added.
Last May, "Israel's" Iron Dome short-range air defense system was put to the ultimate test as Palestinian resistance factions fired thousands of rockets at “Israel” in response to its brutal massacres against civilians in Gaza. Iron Dome deflected the majority of the projectiles, but its interceptor missile stores were severely depleted, necessitating costly resupply to be ready for another attack.
That's when the US Congress decided to step in with a $1 billion spending proposal tucked into a stopgap funding bill. The measure was later separated into its own law, which the US House of Representatives passed on September 24 with opposition.
